Now that all the sections have been put into one long image, it is possible that some of the detail gets lost because it is such a busy illustration. So I have isolated some of the figure/setting/detail bits which I spent a lot of time on as some get lost within all the layers

I really enjoyed making the different structures, and I think they turned out quite well. They are all in the greeny dark colour because I didn't want them to be the main focus as they were just for setting. The winter palace could have had more detail but I wanted to make it look imposing as it is what the workers are revolting against. I kept the mausoleum it's actual colour because it was an important element of the time. 

I was happy with my big portraits, I have never been good at figures/characters but I think these definitely have a likeness to each person. The use of scale within my illustration helped a lot when trying to create a sense of these big characters looming over all the helpless russian people

My figure work didn't turn out too bad, I find drawing people really hard but approaching it as just shapes made it a lot easier for me. Also this style resonates with the constructivist and russian children book style. I made the bolshevik soldiers have a bit more detail with the hat and collar so to differentiate from the imperial soldiers but also to give more of a human feel to the bolsheviks as it a illustration piece more sympathetic to the revolutionary underdogs. 

These are just little bits which I was happy with - I think I might turn some of these into stickers which could come with the book in a sort of pack.
